Tigers, once who use to rule the jungle are on the verge of extinctions and you’ll find them in zoos made by humans.
The mighty dinosaurs are nowhere to be seen because of the meteors wiping them out & they couldn’t reproduce after that event.
Human species is bound to extinct if we follow the current trajectory.
For any species to sustain, reproduction is the first and foremost need.
Birth, growth, death. That’s the cycle of any species.
It you want to stop this cycle, just remove the birth. Stop the reproduction. No produce. Straight out death of the species.
The fertility ratio determines the rate of reproduction. Fertility ratio means number of child per women.
A fertility ratio of 2 means, 2 kids per women.
Just for basics, for a civilisation to sustain, it needs 2.1 fertility rate.
So:
Around 2.1 = long-term stability, roughly.
Below 2.1 = population tends to shrink over time, unless offset by immigration.
Above 2.1 = population tends to grow.
And right now we’re at a crisis level with global fertility ratio declining.
Japan and most of the Europe is staring at population crisis. (An Italian women in her 50s, I met last month says, we don’t want to produce kids)!
India too reported replacement fertility below 2. These are early warning signals.
Women in metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai and mostly southern India are already having below replacement fertility.
The 1 kid family simply won’t survive, in the long run. Basic math.
Also with advent of AI, majority of manual labor will be done by robots & machine. Reducing need of a human.
So we have 2 headwinds.
One: Humans not making enough babies.
Two: Robots actively looking to replace human.
All the hard work you do, sorry to say, nobody will be able to reap its benefits in the next century. Your hard work, wasted. Your sacrifices, wasted. Your life savings, wasted.
So going by current trends, I won’t be surprised to see robots take over humans. Humans going extinct by 2250 or something like that.
We won’t have enough humans to fight back.
And any species unable to fight back or is outnumbered (by smart robots in this case), is bound to be doomed.
Survival of the fittest.
For the new couples out there, the math is simple. If you want to make kids, make 3 or more. Else none. Because it simply doesn’t makes sense.
You yourself are making your future generations look at doom by making them weak (in numbers).
3 or more. Else, none.
It might happen, this blog would be taken seriously after 2050. It would be too late by then for the human civilization to make the good.
Look at what China is going thru after their disastrous ‘One Child Policy’. They had to abolish that policy and are now actively pushing incentive for parents with 2 or more kids.
Japan is ‘paying people to use dating apps.’
You can be modern, you can be like ‘I don’t want to spoil my body’, but you can’t beat maths. Simple.
Fertility crisis is real and it’ll get worse by time.
Concrete steps needs to be take before it’s too late. Saving civilisation is in your own hands. Literally and figuratively.
