After kidnapping Maduro and taking control of Venezuela, they became overconfident in their capabilities.

With the overconfidence, US thought they’ll murder supreme leader of a nation and things will just die on its own in 2-3 days.
Though they forgot that after deadly Iraq war, Iran has been preparing for this day. Since past 20 years.
And the Iranians & IRGC aren’t holding back.
They’re out for revenge of the killing of their supreme leader. Choking Straight Of Hormuz, disrupting global supply chains, wiping out US military bases in middle east.
What US thought was an easy walk is going to be a long drawn battle.
I won’t be surprised to see America lose in the end, just like they failed miserably in Afghanistan for 20 straight years, losing hundreds of thousands of their mens and $2.5 trillion, only to hand it over back to the Talibanis and run like a coward; leaving behind their high-end weapons and machinery for talibanis to use against Pakistan.
Iran is fully prepared to avenge the death of their Supreme Leader. To protect the Shias from Sunni. To protect their religion.
America has more to lose from this war than Iran.
This war doesn’t makes sense purely from risk rewards ratio.
America is mostly trapped for months, if not years.
