Bull market is exciting, because portfolios are up.
Bear market is exciting, because stocks are cheap.
But sideways market are boring and virtually takes your soul.
Sideways markets test your patience.
Nothing is happening. It’s like sitting at the same place for years and watching a tree grow.
You see no activity, no movements but silently progress is happening.
There’s no direction.
And I agree it’s painful.
For some investors, sideways markets are more painful because virtually there’s nothing happening. No growth is visible. No activity. It’s dull and still market. Challenges the dopamine in your mind.
But it is what it is. It’s part and parcel of investing journey.
You can’t expect market to go perpetually up or down. Sometimes it takes time to cool off. Just like you cool of an engine after a long run.
And at this point, one needs to ensure that they are keeping their composure and not throwing in the towels.
