Status games are finite games.
It mostly revolves around impressing others. Envy is the word.
The thing is, you can only make those below you envy.
Those who are above you (wealthier then you) aren’t going to be envy of you.
Hence status games fails in front of wealth game.
Wealth is an infinite game.
Status is a zero sum game. I win, you lose.
Wealth is a positive sum game. I win, you win.
