I’m thankful that I am born & bought up in Mumbai.
I’ve seen both sides, poverty & prosperity, for the contrast Mumbai stands for.
Growing up, I had to travel in Mumbai local trains to attend my college. And believe me, even herds have better breathing space than a Mumbaikar in jam packed locals.
The overcrowding in Mumbai is terrible. And growing up, I couldn’t stand up to the thoughts of doing 9-5. I sincerely felt pity for the life of common man struggling everyday in Mumbai. I mean, this is not what God gave you life for. NOBODY should live such life. Humans are not meant for it. Period.
I decided I never want to live this life forever. I made hard decisions. Hustled. I ate the dirt to live the life few will live.
There were times, I didn’t saw the sun for weeks let alone days.
I sacrificed food & sleep, toiled day & night. And it was worth it.
I no longer have to travel in Mumbai locals (Though I still embrace the fond memories of college days travel). I decide my working hours these days. I have no “office” where I’ve to report any boss on a particular time.
Me & my entire team works on flexible working hours. Have built multiple businesses. I make good money. I do what I want to do, with whom & whenever I want to do. I have freedom & control over my time which is the most precious thing. I live a good life. I’m happy!
I was not privileged. I carved my way out. I fought for the things I have now. Nobody will serve you on a silver platter.
If it were any small town, I wouldn’t have learnt the lessons I wanted to learn. I wouldn’t have learnt life. I wouldn’t be where I am now. I may have ended into a suffocating “well paying” corporate job licking my bosses for promotions & increments. Virtually living on the hopes of the next paycheck & the next paycheck looking my life end collecting paychecks.
Over the top, I GET TO DO WHAT I WANT TO DO. I am truly grateful for it.
Still, a lot to achieve. A lot to lead. A lot to live.
Thank you Mumbai!
